The Timpview Thunderbirds waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Cedar Valley by a score of 45-38. That's another feather in the cap for Timpview, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Timpview's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lina Ballin, who almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, nine rebounds, and ten steals. Ballin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiaiaga Galea'i, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Cedar Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Larson, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Hudson, who scored six points along with five steals.
Timpview has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Cedar Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Timpview will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Wasatch at 5:15 p.m. on January 30th. Wasatch knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Timpview likes a good challenge. As for Cedar Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Springville at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Springville is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
