The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Gibault Catholic Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on January 13th. One thing working in Saxony Lutheran's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matchups.
Saxony Lutheran scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Valle Catholic 78-27 on the road. Saxony Lutheran has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 25 points or more this season.
Saxony Lutheran's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Owen Bucheit, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Luke Eggemeyer, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bucheit has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of John Hartmann, who scored seven points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Gibault Catholic waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They came out on top against Chester by a score of 47-40.
Saxony Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Gibault Catholic, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-10.
Saxony Lutheran came up short against Gibault Catholic in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 50-41. Can Saxony Lutheran avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
