The Hamden Green Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. The matchup between Hamden and Shelton wasn't particularly close, with Hamden falling 42-28. While losing is never fun, Hamden can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Shelton is ranked eighth).
Despite the loss, Hamden still got an impressive performance from Charles Hebron iii, who rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Hebron iii was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 54 yards.
Shelton was led to victory by Michael Kinik and David Dojlidko. Kinik threw for 241 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes, while Dojlidko gained 233 total yards and three touchdowns. Dojlidko has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last three times he's played.
Hamden's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.3 points per game. As for Shelton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hamden is on the road again on Saturday and play against Notre Dame at 9:55 a.m. on November 11th. As for Shelton, they will challenge Xavier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
