Softball Recap: Lincoln Extends Winning Streak to Five

Lincoln waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Galileo Lions by a score of 13-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-2 back in February.

Quincy Fong-McAdams and Jala Chi made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Fong-McAdams didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Chi tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. At bat, Fong-McAdams scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances, while Chi scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Chi has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.

In other batting news, Sofie Hwang and Brienna Tsui did most of the damage at the plate: Hwang scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Tsui scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Katya Shlicoff, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Lincoln pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 20.0 runs over those games. As for Galileo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln will challenge Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Lincoln's pitchers better be ready for this one: Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory has averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Galileo, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Balboa at 3:30 p.m. on April 22.
