Having just played yesterday, the San Jacinto Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Citrus Hill Hawks at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard on Tuesday.
San Jacinto struggled with threes on Monday (Heritage had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. San Jacinto received a tough blow as they fell 80-66 to Heritage. San Jacinto has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
San Jacinto's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Stephen Castleberry, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds, and Josiah Mejia who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Castleberry has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Manasseh Omonua, who scored three points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Citrus Hill's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to West Valley 65-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Tuesday (59), Citrus Hill still had to take the loss.
The losing side was boosted by Roland Thibodeaux, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jerren White, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
San Jacinto's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Citrus Hill, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-13.
San Jacinto was able to grind out a solid win over Citrus Hill in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 62-55. Will San Jacinto repeat their success, or does Citrus Hill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
