Cedar Key is 0-4 against the Red Devils since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cedar Key Sharks will face off against the Williston Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Cedar Key will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 586th, while the Red Devils are ranked 239th).
Last Friday, Cedar Key came up short against the Bulldogs and fell 46-38. Cedar Key has struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Williston had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three last Friday. They strolled past Newberry with points to spare, taking the game 58-41.
Janiyah Span had a dynamite game for Williston, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Span has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kierce Solomon, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Cedar Key has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Williston, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Things could have been worse for Cedar Key, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-45 loss to the Red Devils in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Cedar Key avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
