This season hasn't been kind to The St. Augustine Knights, who are still winless after their eighth game. They took a serious blow against Emery/Weiner on Saturday, falling 66-6. While losing is never fun, St. Augustine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 241st, while Emery/Weiner is ranked 40th).
It was another big night for Zac Laviage, who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 56 receiving yards. Laviage's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bennett Grossman, who threw for 183 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
St. Augustine's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Medina and 8-1 Somerset Academy Brooks (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 73.2% over those games). As for Emery/Weiner, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
St. Augustine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Emery/Weiner also has no future games currently scheduled.
