The Gunnison Valley Bulldogs fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Grand County Red Devils on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Red Devils 55-50. Gunnison Valley just can't catch a break and has now endured five defeats in a row.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Autumn Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Rylee Bartholomew was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Gunnison Valley were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grand County only pulled down 22 offensive rebounds.
Grand County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trinity Bryant, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Kasprick, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Gunnison Valley bumped their record down to 3-9 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Grand County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Gunnison Valley will head out on the road to face off against San Juan at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. San Juan is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Grand County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Sevier at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (North Sevier is ranked 85th, while Grand County is ranked 83rd).
