The Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks will challenge the Ballston Spa Scotties at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Saratoga Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Saratoga Springs' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Niskayuna with a sharp 8-0 victory. The Blue Streaks have beaten the Silver Warriors the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Silver Warriors has come to flipping the script.
The team relied heavily on Riley Marx, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ava Taber, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Ballston Spa strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Ichabod Crane.
Livia Wiltsie made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Wiltsie was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Madelyn Perrone and Maedelyn Ebbecke did most of the damage at the plate: Perrone scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Ebbecke scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Reese Dewey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.
Ballston Spa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Saratoga Springs pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average this season. As for Ballston Spa, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Saratoga Springs has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ballston Spa struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Saratoga Springs couldn't quite get it done against Ballston Spa when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-4.
