The Beaver Bobcats will challenge the Chartiers Valley Colts at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Beaver has three straight victories, Chartiers Valley has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Beaver made easy work of North Catholic and carried off a 14-4 win. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Bobcats this season.
Maddox Tanner was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Eli Maze, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Beaver was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Upper St. Clair hit Chartiers Valley with a six-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Colts lost 11-2 to the Panthers.
Chartiers Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colton Prosperi, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Beaver's victory bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Chartiers Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Beaver has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chartiers Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Beaver's way against Chartiers Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Beaver made off with an 11-4 win. Will the Bobcats repeat their success, or do the Colts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
