The Gretna Hawks won the last time they faced the Nelson County Governors, and things went their way on Friday too. Gretna took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 55-7 victory over Nelson County. The result was nothing new for Gretna, who have now won three games by 34 points or more so far this season.
Melvin Wooden continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 163 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Gretna also got a significant boost from Zamarreon Younger, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 126 yards.
Gretna's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33 points. As for Nelson County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Gretna will look to defend their home field on Friday against Chatham at 7:00 p.m. Chatham will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 234th, while Gretna is ranked 106th). As for Nelson County, they will head out on the road to face off against Altavista at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
