Section 6 B - North recap October 22, 2013
Cheektowaga added to the longest winning streak in Section 6 B - North this week by beating Maryvale, 28-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Warriors.
Amherst Central scaled the state rankings by moving to 400 from 447 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of topping Lewiston-Porter 21-20.
John Warne threw for 142 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 12-25 with 1 interception.
Ed Wolfe provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Albion lost to Medina/Webber. Wolfe's favorite target this week was Des Blackmon, who caught 8 passes for 86 yards.
Kyle Barna was the best wideout in the league this week as the Mustangs bested the Purple Eagles. Barna tallied 6 receptions for 109 yards. Dylan Lewis helped Medina/Webber's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 43 yards.
Medina/Webber's Jason Hellwig and Barna led Section 6 B - North in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Hellwig has thrown for 1,045 yards this season, while Barna has 29 catches for 452 yards. Albion's Wolfe leads the league in rushing yards with 979.
Wolfe of the Tony Osburn's team is only 21 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Wolfe has rushed for 979 yards on 137 carries so far this year.
Bennett/Olmsted was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in the league. The Tigers defeated Barker/Royalton-Hartland 48-21 earlier in the week.
