After flying high against the Long Beach Bearcats on Tuesday, the West Harrison Hurricanes came back down to earth. West Harrison fell 46-36 to Moss Point on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Harrison in their matchups with Moss Point: they've now lost three in a row.
Moss Point's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alejandro Montalvo, who scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrese Ricardo, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
West Harrison's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7. As for Moss Point, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-6.
West Harrison will be home for the holidays to greet George County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Moss Point, they will head out on the road to face off against Greene County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Greene County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
