The Middleton Vikings waltzed into their match on Tuesday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They secured a 59-53 W over Rocky Mountain. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but Middleton was the better team in the second half.
Middleton found their leader in underclassman Aysha Fried, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Fried pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Robynn Flowers, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Rocky Mountain lost, one person who can't be blamed is Anna Dabell. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Dabell scored 15 or more points. Averee Osterhout was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
Middleton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Rocky Mountain, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middleton will challenge Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Idaho Rankings (they are ranked 60th, while Middleton is ranked 12th). As for Rocky Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Timberline at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Timberline will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
