The Marion Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Ell-Saline Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Tuesday, Marion was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-35 to Moundridge. Marion has not had much luck with Moundridge recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Grace Hett, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Erin Regnier was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Ell-Saline's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They lost to Inman at home by a decisive 58-40 margin.
Marion's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Ell-Saline, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Marion ended up a good deal behind Ell-Saline in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, losing 48-30. Can Marion avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
