Grantsville has gone a perfect 10-0 against North Sanpete recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cowboys will challenge the Hawks at 10:00 a.m. Grantsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Grantsville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They never let Judge Memorial Catholic get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The Cowboys haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Payten Bytheway made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Eden Ressel was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was SaDee Castagno, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.
Grantsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Judge Memorial Catholic only posted an OBP of .100.
Meanwhile, North Sanpete entered their tilt with Carbon on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Dinos by a score of 5-0.
Not much got past Shea Rawlinson, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Carbon off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mylee Cook, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Rylee Stewart was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
North Sanpete pushed their record up to 16-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Grantsville, their win bumped their record up to 21-8.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Grantsville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like North Sanpete struggles in that department as they've averaged .315. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Grantsville came out on top in a nail-biter against North Sanpete in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Cowboys have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
