The South Florence Bruins struggled with assists on Wednesday (the Wilson Tigers had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. South Florence fell 64-53 to Wilson. South Florence has struggled against Wilson recently, as their match on Wednesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Several Bruins players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rodney Lesane, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lesane has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jamarie Brown, who scored 13 points along with five assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wilson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tristan Thompson, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Josh Leonard was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
South Florence now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Wilson, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Florence will take on Myrtle Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Myrtle Beach knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully South Florence likes a good challenge. As for Wilson, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome West Florence at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. West Florence will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Wilson is ranked 15th).
