The Pueblo South Colts won the last time they faced the Pueblo East Eagles, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Pueblo South walked away with a 66-54 win over Pueblo East. Given Pueblo South's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Pueblo East is ranked 251st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Maurice Austin was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Pueblo South's points. Andres Cura was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with four steals.
Pueblo South's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Pueblo East, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pueblo South will take on Pueblo Centennial at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pueblo East, they will play host again and welcome Pueblo West, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
