The Seton Catholic Central Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They were beaten by Boquet Valley 52-23. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Seton Catholic Central has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Seton Catholic Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Aiden Pearl. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 25 rebounds. That was a full 52.2% of Seton Catholic Central's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Evan Waldron, who scored four points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Seton Catholic Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boquet Valley only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Boquet Valley was led to victory by Maddox Rice and Carson Leibeck. Rice scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four blocks, while Leibeck scored 18 points along with seven steals. That's the first time this season that Leibeck scored 15 or more points. Bode Buehler was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Seton Catholic Central's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-11. As for Boquet Valley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
Seton Catholic Central will head out on the road to challenge Keene Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Keene Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Seton Catholic Central likes a good challenge. As for Boquet Valley, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Peru at 6:30 p.m. Peru will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 687th, while Boquet Valley is ranked 256th).
