On Friday, the Legacy Longhorns faced the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Legacy came out on top against Cimarron-Memorial by a score of 58-50. That's another feather in the cap for Legacy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Rahjon Chambers, who scored 22 points. He hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Maven-Bell Toleafoa was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Despite the loss, Cimarron-Memorial still got an impressive performance from Gerald Patterson, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 44% of Cimarron-Memorial's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Brown, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Legacy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Cimarron-Memorial, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-8.
Legacy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Desert Pines at 10:30 a.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Desert Pines' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for Cimarron-Memorial, they will head out on the road to challenge Canyon Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Canyon Springs is ranked 36th, while Cimarron-Memorial is ranked 22nd).
