The Denver City Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Dalhart Wolves at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Denver City is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Denver City put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Kermit, posting a 43-6 victory at home.
Meanwhile, Dalhart pushed their score all the way to 45 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 53-45 to Muleshoe. It was the first time this season that Dalhart let down their fans at home.
Despite their loss, Dalhart saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Hunter Trusler, who picked up 102 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground, was perhaps the best of all. Trusler's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards. Alex Penton also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Denver City's victory bumped their season record to 6-4 while Dalhart's loss dropped theirs to 7-3.
Denver City came up short against Dalhart in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 31-21. Can Denver City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
