The Pierz Pioneers have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They enjoyed a cozy 62-46 victory over Upsala on Tuesday. Pierz's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Upsala lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brenna Graves, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Leners, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Pierz's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Upsala, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Pierz will head out on the road to challenge Mora at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Mora is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Upsala, they will be playing at home against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Long Prairie-Grey Eagle is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
