The Ben Holt College Prep Academy Bobcats will head out to take on the River Islands Riptide at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Ben Holt College Prep Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Ben Holt College Prep Academy proved they can win big on Friday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Woodland Christian 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bobcats have posted since April 14th.
Emma Valli was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Julieann Drulias and Adryana Young did most of the damage at the plate: Drulias got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Young went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Young has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cameron Smith, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Ben Holt College Prep Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 11 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask River Islands). Everything went their way against Aspire Langston Hughes Academy on Friday as they made off with a 25-11 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Riptide with their most commanding win of the season.
Ben Holt College Prep Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for River Islands, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8.
Everything went Ben Holt College Prep Academy's way against River Islands in their previous matchup back in April, as Ben Holt College Prep Academy made off with a 19-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
