6A District 8 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Lafayette extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 8 this week by beating Madison Central, 21-0. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Lafayette was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping the Indians. Carl Hayden's team came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
The Generals' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Garrett Peavler threw for 250 and two touchdowns and Brandon Epps had 79 yards receiving. On the ground Kylan Nelson chipped in 116 yards. Nelson helped Lafayette's passing attack out by catching three balls for 60 yards.
Lafayette's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Generals feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Peavler has thrown for 1969 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Tranard Chester has 28 catches for 532 yards. Nelson leads the league in rushing with 856 yards.
Going into this week's game against Tates Creek, Lafayette's Peavler needs 31 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Generals take on the Commodores. At the moment, Lafayette is in first, while Tates Creek is in third.
