Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Vardaman's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Vardaman put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the West Lowndes Panthers a 14-0 shutout. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Gracie Chandler was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arwen Lucius, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Lyla Chandler was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Vardaman has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. West Lowndes is on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Vardaman will face off against Smithville at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for West Lowndes, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-0 loss against Vardaman on the 27th.
