For the first time this season, Crown Point will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to take on the La Porte Slicers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. La Porte took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Crown Point, who comes in off a win.
Crown Point gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Twin Lakes. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Collin Bodnar looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.
At the plate, Crown Point got a massive performance out of Caden Matusak, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Billy Chidsey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Crown Point always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Twin Lakes only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, La Porte lost 7-1 to Logansport on Saturday.
La Porte also got a good showing from Cody Ryden, who tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, La Porte saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Langarger, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.
Crown Point now has a winning record of 2-1. As for La Porte, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
La Porte's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Crown Point hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .385. It's a different story for La Porte, though, as they've only averaged .200. Will they be able to contain Crown Point's hitters?
Crown Point couldn't quite get it done against La Porte when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
