The Denver South Ravens will face off against the Mountain Range Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Denver South will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Denver South is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by an 18-2 margin over DSST: Montview on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Ravens with their most commanding win of the season.
Cody Welch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Welch was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Landon Leu looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Pierce Clark was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those RBI marked the first that he brought in this season. Henry Schoder was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Five bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Mountain Range might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Greeley West who claimed the real prize. Mountain Range fell just short of Greeley West by a score of 10-9.
Zane Weingartner was cooking despite his team's loss, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Espinoza, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5.
Denver South's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Mountain Range, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Saturday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Denver South has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .484. However, it's not like Mountain Range struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
