The Bryan Golden Bears will challenge the Northview Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northview's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Friday: Bryan hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Golden Bears never let Hicksville get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their matchups with the Aces: they've now won four in a row.
Thea Staten made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Averyann Fisher was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Josey Arnold, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Bryan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Northview won against Delta on Monday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Wildcats put the hurt on Wauseon with a sharp 10-1 victory.
Like Bryan, Northview also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaitlyn Eckel. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Eckel was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Northview got a massive performance out of Brooklynn Reinbolt, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kyra Ervin, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Northview's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Bryan, their victory bumped their record up to 18-0.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Bryan hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Northview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Bryan's way against Northview in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Bryan made off with a 12-4 win. Will the Golden Bears repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
