The Grand Traverse Academy Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They really took it to Varsity Opponent for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-6 win at home. That 48 point margin sets a new team best for Grand Traverse Academy this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grand Traverse Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alleah Dix, who scored six points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Pavwoski, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four blocks.
The victory got Grand Traverse Academy back to even at 6-6. As for Varsity Opponent, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 25 of their last 28 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 108-385 record this season.
Grand Traverse Academy will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Mary presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Mustangs in Michigan (the Eagles are ranked 132nd, while the Mustangs are ranked 502nd). As for Varsity Opponent, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on January 30th.
