The Frederick Golden Eagles entered their tilt with the Mountain View Mountain Lions with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Frederick managed a 55-50 win over Mountain View on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Frederick also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Frederick was led to victory by Gabby Jima and Zoe Wittler. Jima scored 14 points along with two steals, while Wittler scored 18 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jima has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Gardner, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Several Mountain Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Meghan Keil, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Addison Branscum, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Frederick's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Frederick will head out on the road to face off against Fort Morgan at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fort Morgan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 257th, while Frederick is ranked 37th). As for Mountain View, Mountain View and Severance will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
