After a string of four wins, the Elkhorn Antlers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Skutt Catholic by a score of 49-46. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Elkhorn has scored all season.
Elkhorn's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Petersen, who scored eight points along with six blocks. Petersen is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted three or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Colin Comstock, who scored nine points.
Elkhorn's defeat dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Skutt Catholic, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elkhorn will take on Roncalli Catholic at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. As for Skutt Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Heelan Catholic on Tuesday.
