The Fayetteville Bulldogs will square off against the Conway Wampus Cats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fayetteville is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
With a playoff game on the line, Fayetteville rose to the challenge on Friday. They secured a 30-24 W over Southside.
Fayetteville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Setzer, who rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown. Setzer is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Lindsey, who threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.1% of his passes.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Fayetteville, adding 12 points to the final score. All those points came courtesy of Nathan Kachel: he added nine points with three field goals, and another three kicking extra points.
Meanwhile, Conway faced Bentonville West in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Conway took down Bentonville West 63-46 on Friday. Yes, you read that score correctly, and yes, they were playing football.
Their wins bumped Fayetteville to 11-0 and Conway to 10-1.
Fayetteville took a serious blow against Conway when the teams last played back in November of 2022, falling 37-0. Can Fayetteville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
