The San Diego Academy Cavaliers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 63-54 win over Monarch. This was payback for San Diego Academy, who suffered a 39-21 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead San Diego Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jason Love, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Love has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Story Avitia, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Monarch still got an impressive performance from Chris Prado, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Prado has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Jason Small was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
San Diego Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Monarch, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6.
San Diego Academy will head out on the road to square off against Health Sciences at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Health Sciences is coming into the game with three straight victories at home, so San Diego Academy is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. Monarch will take on The Cambridge School at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cambridge School will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Monarch surely won't give up without a fight.
