The result was an unpleasant reminder to North Phoenix Preparatory Academy of the 46-26 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.
North Phoenix Preparatory Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Alexandra Price, who scored nine points along with 17 rebounds and three steals. Price hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Isabel Idemudia, who scored nine points along with five steals.
North Phoenix Preparatory Academy dropped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.2 points per game. As for Maryvale Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.
North Phoenix Preparatory Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Tempe Prep at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. As for Maryvale Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge Antelope at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
