The Wilbur-Creston-Keller Wildcats were the 48-33 winner over the Odessa Tigers when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Wilbur-Creston-Keller fell just short of Odessa by a score of 49-47. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Wilbur-Creston-Keller came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Odessa is ranked 200th).
Odessa's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Schuh, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Schuh has scored at least a third of Odessa's points. Another player making a difference was Melloney Deife, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Wilbur-Creston-Keller and nudges their season record down to 6-2. As for Odessa, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.
Wilbur-Creston-Keller will head out on the road to square off against Oakesdale at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Oakesdale will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Odessa will take on Valley Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
