2A District 8 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Springfield extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 8 this week by beating Pine, 51-6. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Bulldogs.
Pope John Paul II led the league in scoring this week after putting up 73 points on St. Helena Central.
Northlake Christian's Josh O'Rear and Dane Landry have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. O'Rear has thrown for 838 yards this season, while Landry, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 20 catches for 408 yards. The Raiders' Derrick Dillion leads the league in rushing yards with 799.
A big matchup in 2A District 8 this week will be when the Wolverines take on Springfield. As it stands, Northlake Christian is in third, while Ryan Serpas' team is in first.
