The Helix Highlanders will head out on the road to take on the Granite Hills Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 859 yards in their previous games.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Helix turned things around against El Capitan on Friday. They put the hurt on the Vaqueros with a sharp 41-21 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Highlanders' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 214th, while the Vaqueros are ranked 459th).

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Helix was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 347 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Helix didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jeremy Robinson and Donte Wright.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Granite Hills, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in September. They came out on top against Mount Miguel by a score of 29-16 on Friday. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Matadors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Zachary Benitez and Jeremiah Loper. Benitez had a great game and threw for 296 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Meanwhile, Loper did his best for the losing side, rushing for 39 yards and one score, while also throwing for 148 yards and one TD.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Granite Hills' defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Wyatt MacLeod, Hunter Hamilton, and Parker Johnson, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Helix's record now sits at 2-6. As for Granite Hills, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Helix lost to Granite Hills on the road by a decisive 35-21 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Highlanders, Max Turner (who rushed for 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also caught one score) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
