Rily Cobler made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kinsey Bradley, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Katie Remine was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Holston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .644. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Eastside beat Honaker 4-0 on Thursday.
Not much got past Braelyn Hall, who gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Honaker off the board.
At the plate, Eastside saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Compton, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. That stolen base was Compton's first of the season.
Holston's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Eastside, their victory bumped their record up to 22-2.
Holston came up short against Eastside when the teams last played back in May of 2018, falling 6-1. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
