The Lyons Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lyons is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.2 runs per game this season.
Lyons took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They blew past Williamson 20-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Keira Weber made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Weber was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Addison VanLare was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and six RBI. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Rylee Richardson was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three doubles.
Lyons kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Palmyra-Macedon hadn't done well against Wayne recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Red Raiders came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 10-7. The victory was familiar territory for the Red Raiders, who have now won three contests in a row.
Briana VanHaneghan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. VanHaneghan was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Addi Gendron was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Elianna Rouland, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Lyons' win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Palmyra-Macedon, their record is now 7-2.
Palmyra-Macedon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lyons has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 13.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Palmyra-Macedon, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given Lyons' sizable advantage in that area, the Red Raiders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Lyons suffered a grim 18-6 defeat to Palmyra-Macedon in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
