The South County Stallions are taking a road trip to challenge the Lake Braddock Bruins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as South County comes in on four and Lake Braddock on five.
South County barely beat Woodson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Stallions were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Cavaliers on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Stallions, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Maddie Grice tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

04/17/24 @ Fairfax | 2 |
At the plate, Oksana Rodriguez was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Peyton Tom also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
South County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodson struck out 11 times.
Meanwhile, Lake Braddock got the win against Fairfax on Tuesday by a conclusive 11-1. The Bruins are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the fifth game they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Mac Verdejo made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Verdejo was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lake Braddock got a massive performance out of Addison Forde, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Radha Samuel, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Lake Braddock's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for South County, their record now sits at 6-2.
Both South County and Lake Braddock just can't seem to miss. The Stallions have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Lake Braddock struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South County couldn't quite get it done against Lake Braddock when the teams last played back in March as they fell 6-1. Can the Stallions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
