Softball Recap: Ferndale Sets Scoring Season-High Against St. Bernard's

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ferndale). Everything went their way against the St. Bernard's Crusaders on Thursday as they made off with a 27-16 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Madison Gossi, who went 5-for-6 with one home run, five runs, and seven RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alayna Cooney, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

Ferndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .596. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Ferndale and bumps their season record up to 8-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for St. Bernard's, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
