Dallas Sirikhan was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Bonanza got a big performance out of Dillon Owens, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave Owens a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jesus Rios, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
Bonanza always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Silverado ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 win over Sierra Vista. The game was the first time the Skyhawks have beaten the Mountain Lions on their field since May 12, 2022.
Giovanni Guariglia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Guariglia was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Jayden Orphan and Marek Piekarski did most of the damage at the plate: Orphan went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one double, while Piekarski went 4-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. Kanoa Wolfgang was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs.
Bonanza pushed their record up to 11-15 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Silverado, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
