The Bethany Christian Bruins fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They wrapped up 2023 with a 70-51 victory over Westville. With that win, Bethany Christian brought their scoring average up to 52.1 points per game.
Bethany Christian was led to victory by Jacoby Reinhardt and Tyson Chupp. Reinhardt scored 24 points along with six rebounds, while Chupp shot 5-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. The match was Chupp's third in a row with at least ten points.
Defeat or not, Westville got some senior leadership from Kaden Pepper who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds and Gavin Hannon who scored eight points. Pepper set a new season high mark in steals with three. Josh Wert was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Bethany Christian's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Westville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Bethany Christian and DeMotte Christian will round out the year against one another at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Luke Terpstra and Chupp. Westville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Clinton Christian at 12:30 p.m. on December 30th. Hopefully Clinton Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Friday.
