The Williston Red Devils will square off against the Trenton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Williston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Williston came up short against Hawthorne and fell 7-4.
Ethan Morrow was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Williston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maverick Jones, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Another was Kenan Bellamy, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Trenton entered their contest against Trinity Catholic on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Tigers might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 4-3 to the Celtics, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Brant Bivens was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.
Williston's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Trenton, their loss dropped their record down to 14-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Williston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Trenton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
