Baseball Game Preview: Cambria Heights Highlanders vs. Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays

Cambria Heights is a perfect 3-0 against Conemaugh Valley since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Highlanders will host the Blue Jays at 4:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Cambria Heights' last matchup with Conemaugh Township could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Highlanders lost 8-1 to the Indians. The Highlanders haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Cambria Heights saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Conemaugh Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Moshannon Valley on Monday and fell 3-2.

Nate Stiffler was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Hunter Blough also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Conemaugh Valley's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for Cambria Heights, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cambria Heights has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Conemaugh Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Cambria Heights skirted past Conemaugh Valley 5-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Blue Jays have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
