Softball Recap: Cane Ridge Wins Going Away Against Lavergne

Cane Ridge hadn't done well against LaVergne recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Ravens were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over the Wolverines. The result was nothing new for the Ravens, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cane Ridge got a massive performance out of Jeriah Webb, who went 3-for-4 with seven stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Asia Whitlock, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with seven stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cane Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.7 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.

Cane Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for LaVergne, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Coincidentally, Cane Ridge and LaVergne will both be playing McGavock the next time they take the field. The Wolverines will head out to face the Raiders at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, while the Ravens will play them later in the day, at 4:00 p.m.
