A classic North v. South matchup is on the schedule. The Omaha North Vikings will welcome the Omaha South Packers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Omaha North is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Mount Michael Benedictine hit Omaha North with a seven-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell just short of the Knights by a score of 13-12.
Connor O'Neill was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Chance Kinman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Omaha North: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-8 otherwise. Colin Kinman was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Omaha South, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lincoln High on Monday, sneaking past 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Packers have posted since April 5th.
Like Omaha North, Omaha South also got a great game from a two-way player: Caleb Williams. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, Williams posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.
Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lou Hodoly, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Omaha South's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Omaha North, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Omaha North has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Omaha South struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Omaha North beat Omaha South 7-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Packers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
