The biggest upset of the week belonged to Spring Valley, who took down 37th ranked Irmo, 20-14.
Blythewood extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region IV this week by beating Richland Northeast, 21-20. The victory was the seventh in a row for the team.
The Cavaliers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. A. C. Whaley threw for 177 and one touchdown and Shamar Foulks had 62 yards receiving. On the ground Jaquari Blunt chipped in 47 yards. Craishaud Foulks helped Richland Northeast's passing attack out by catching five balls for 50 yards.
Richland Northeast's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cavaliers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Whaley has thrown for 1844 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Foulks has 48 catches for 852 yards. Whaley also leads the league in rushing with 203 yards.
Entering into this week's contest against the Yellowjackets, Whaley is short just 156 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Ridge View takes on the Vikings. The Blazers are in fourth place, while Spring Valley is in second place.
Blythewood and Jay Frye's team played the most hotly contested game in AAAA Region IV this week, with Blythewood eventually emerging with a 21-20 victory.
