Wesclin and Okawville are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Wesclin didn't have quite enough to beat Dupo and fell 2-1. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Heidi Nordmann was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Meadow Hatter also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Okawville). Everything went their way against Father McGivney Catholic on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-2 victory. Considering the Rockets have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Laura Cook looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Kenley Hackstadt and Jilien Harre did most of the damage at the plate: Hackstadt got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Harre went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Harre a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kate Borrenpohl, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Okawville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Wesclin's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Okawville, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Wesclin hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Okawville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Wesclin couldn't quite get it done against Okawville in their previous matchup on Tuesday as they fell 7-2. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
