Avon has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Gregory Gorillas at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Monday, Avon came up short against Scotland and fell 65-57.
Meanwhile, Gregory entered their tilt with Burke with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went Gregory's way against Burke on Monday as Gregory made off with a 72-49 win. Gregory has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 23 points or more this season.
Gregory got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cruz Klundt out in front who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Klundt is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Daniel Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Avon's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Gregory, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Avon was dealt a bruising 66-26 loss at the hands of Gregory when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Avon was down 45-15.
